It covers the website, checkout, email, and the contact forms on the Business and Gifting pages. It does not cover Amazon.in, Instagram, or other sites where Papercoal also sells or posts.
What we collect
If you place an order: name, email, phone, billing address, shipping address, order contents, and payment status. We do not store full card numbers. Cards are handled by Shopify and the payment processor.
If you email us or send a contact form: whatever you type, plus your email, and the page you wrote from.
If you create a customer account: email and the orders attached to it. You do not need an account to browse.
Automatically: IP address, browser, device, and pages viewed, through Shopify’s storefront and checkout cookies. We do not run advertising pixels on papercoal.com.
Why we collect it
To take and fulfil orders, quote international freight, ship with a courier, answer email, issue invoices, and keep records required under Indian tax law. We do not sell this data. We do not use it to build advertising audiences.
Who else sees it
Shopify, who hosts the store (Shopify Inc., Canada / United States).
The payment processor that takes the card or UPI payment on checkout.
The courier, if we ship to you: Blue Dart inside India; DHL Express or FedEx for international shipments. They get the name, phone, and address needed to deliver.
Our accountant, for GST invoices and returns.
We will also disclose data if Indian law requires it.
Where it is stored
The store runs on Shopify. That means some data sits on servers outside India. By ordering or emailing us, you accept that.
How long we keep it
Order and invoice records are kept as long as Indian tax law requires, currently eight years. Email threads we keep while they are useful, then delete. You can ask us to delete what we hold where the law allows. We cannot delete an invoice we are required to retain.
Cookies
Shopify uses cookies so the cart, checkout, and customer account work. That is the only reason we use them. You can block cookies in your browser; checkout will then fail.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data we hold on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to the tax-record rule above). Email hey@papercoal.com. We will answer within 30 days.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly take orders from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page. The date at the top of the Shopify policy is the date it was last saved.
